An Energy Predictive Control Strategy for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) have drawn increasing attention due to their advantages such as small size, high efficiency and high overload capacity. The traditional vector control (TVC) method uses a PI controller in the speed outer loop, which restricted the control performance of vector control due to its drawbacks of time delay and bandwidth. To address this problem, based on the essence of electromechanical energy conversion, an energy predictive controller has been designed to replace the speed loop PI controller. Simulation and test results show that the proposed energy predictive controller (EPC) improves the dynamic response of the motor.
