Omnidirectional Wireless Energy Harvest Through Magnetic Resonant Coupling

Wireless power transfer (WPT) revolutionizes power delivery by offering flexibility and freedom. By utilizing two-dimensional or three-dimensional coils, an omnidirectional power transmission becomes possible. This unique characteristic of WPT opens up new possibilities for even greater power regulation control, enabling energy upload and download in any direction. Building upon this concept, this paper introduces a novel omnidirectional wireless energy harvest system. First, the proposed system facilitates two-way power transmission for the transceiver through orthogonal magnetic resonant coupling. Furthermore, the coupling mechanism and mathematical model are derived and analyzed, and a dedicated control algorithm is applied to achieve the energy upload and download. Finally, finite element analysis, simulations, and experimental results are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed omnidirectional wireless energy harvest system.
