Transforming Education: Metaverse Challenges and Teacher Training - An Integrative Review

The constant transformation in the field of education and pedagogical practices, resulting from the integration of new technologies, brings about new demands for teacher training. As the processes related to distance education become established, a new step emerges with the adoption of technological resources that allow immersion in virtual, augmented, and mixed realities, such as the metaverse. This article aims to map the main challenges encountered in the use of such technologies in teacher training. To do so, an integrative literature review was conducted on the main knowledge bases. The main findings indicate that there is a set of factors that should be considered and that influence teachers in the adoption of these technologies. It was also found that teacher training strategies need to be reconsidered, as traditional strategies are still being used, limiting the possibilities for learning in practice.
