Implementation of PID Controller Tuning Method for Load Frequency Control in Multi Area Power System

Automatic Generation Control (AGC), commonly known as Load Frequency Control (LFC), utilizes mathematical modelling to elucidate the dynamics of power generation and load fluctuations. The classical second-order system with a governor and turbine is widely employed as a model for single-area load frequency management. In this research paper, a two-area power system is developed for experimental analysis in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment model incorporates with PI and PID controllers to regulate the frequency and transmission line (Tie line) of the two-area power system network. Additionally, it presents a comparative analysis of the two controllers employing the PID-tuned technique, allowing for further validation or fine-tuning of the precision of the assigned value for the system-stabilizing controller. The PID controller is responsible for improving the output of generators, transformers, or other components to uphold the desired operating conditions. This Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller, a well-established feedback control method, finds application across various sectors. Despite its longstanding significance in control systems, its utilization is expected to evolve with advancements in technology and control methodologies in the future.
