State-Plane Diagram Analysis of Series Resonant Converter Used for Wireless EV Battery Charging

This paper presents the analysis of wireless inductive power transfer for Electrical Vehicle (EV)'s battery charging system in form of series resonant converter (SRC) topology by using a state-plane diagram approach, which is a powerful tool for representing the steady state operation of the circuit. This paper shows how to derive the essential element values of the circuit. It is shown from the analysis that the charging current can be offline controlled by adjusting switching frequency. The control scheme, design example and computer simulation of the proposed circuit are also done to confirm the analytic works. However, this paper will be done in both continuous current mode (CCM) and discontinuous current mode (DCM).
