6G Revolution: Redefining Communication Systems

India is currently experiencing its entry into the 5th Generation networks. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel Ltd. hold majority of the market share in India when it comes to 5G deployment and feature enablement, due to their adoption of rapid digital transformation methodologies and access to technology. The major enablers of 5G are, Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC), and Massive Machine Type Communication (MMTC). The current maturity of 5G places it in a position, where only eMBB enablement is achieved, and the industry across the world misses the proper use cases and technology to commercially implement URLLC and MMTC. After considering the practical aspects of 5G implementation, the industry believes that, 5G would essentially lay the platform for 6G to take over that can implement the KPI’s of 5G with better accuracy and efficiency, which has been the case historically. The sixth-generation (6G) wireless communication networks are expected to bring revolutionary changes to how communication and interaction happens with the world around us. Some of the key enablers of this revolution is the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL) technologies into RAN and the entire core network. This paper explores the potential of AI, ML, and DL in 6G communications, and their role in delivering faster and more reliable wireless connectivity. Furthermore, 6G networks can offer ultra-low latency of under 1ms, which is essential for the deployment of mission-critical applications such as autonomous vehicles and industrial automation. In conclusion, this paper provides a comprehensive overview of the potential of AI, ML, and DL in the 6G communications architecture, and how these technologies can enable new use cases and improve the performance of wireless networks.
