Artificial Neural Network for Tracking and Monitoring an Electric Vehicle's Speed

This paper explores the application of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) in developing a nonlinear speed control strategy for electric vehicle (EV) applications. The control system, which integrates an electronic differential command and an artificial neural network (ANN), regulates wheel speed and steering angle. Positioned at the rear of the vehicle, two PMSMs are employed, and the control approach relies on monitoring and providing feedback on three-phase currents and rotor speed. The ANN method is implemented using data from the electric vehicle speed management system, incorporating information on straight-ahead steering, electronic differential, and left and right steering angles. The effectiveness of the proposed system is evaluated through modeling and simulation using Matlab/Simulink software.
