The Direction for Increasing the Efficiency of Renewable Energy Systems in Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR)

This research is a study of the direction for increasing the efficiency of renewable energy systems in Lao PDR using the Low Emission Analysis Platform (LEAP) system model to analyze the feasibility of developing potential for developing renewable energy, including the access potential of revolutionizing energy sources in rural areas. Anyway, using renewable energy will help reduce CO2 emissions between 2021 and 2030. The analysis also found that increasing renewable energy in electricity production will benefit Lao PDR. in many aspects, including improving the diversification of primary energy supplies for electricity production, reducing the construction of hydropower dams, and reducing the use of fossil fuels to produce electricity, which relies on fossil fuels and environmentally friendly production sources. Even though it has many benefits, promoting renewable energy may face many obstacles, including the inefficient nature of renewable energy, unreliability for basic electricity demand, high initial costs, unsupported grid infrastructure, and unfavorable regulations. So, the solutions to this problem should include developing energy storage technologies, improving grid flexibility, and amending regulations to support renewable energy businesses, which may be an effective strategy to solve the obstacles facing electricity shortages in wilderness areas that Lao PDR has to face.
