Effect of ESR on the bifurcation of Valley V2-modulated Buck Converter

In this paper, valley-V2 modulation method is implemented in a buck converter. Valley-V2 modulation is a ripple-based fixed frequency modulation method where the valley (minimum or lowest) value of output ripple voltage is used for modulation. Discreet mathematical model has been developed for the converter. We explore the nonlinear dynamical behavior of the said system with the help of bifurcation diagram. ESR(effective series resistance) value of a filter capacitor is very important parameter in a ripple-based controller. Here, we have done an intensive study of how the dynamics of the converter are influenced by the ESR. We explore that how the value of ESR dominates the nature of bifurcation as well as stability of the system.
