Tracking of Human Motion Between Optical Flow Methods Based on Processing Time

Multiple researchers have attempted to merge the Lucas-Kanade method with another algorithm to improve the tracking of motion and computer vision. This paper's main objective is to compare the performance of the researchers’ proposed tracking method with the existing tracking method. The system utilized a total of thirty (30) sample videos for the two systems, each video lasted for 5 seconds. The proposed method, the Lucas-Kanade Optical Flow method, will be compared to the existing method, the Horn-Schunck Method. The researchers compared the processing times of the videos from both methods. The t-statistical value was 23.74 which is higher than the value of t-critical of 2.042. This result exhibited, that while employing the Lucas-Kanade Optical Flow, a significant disparity in the processing time compared to the existing method. Because of this, the researchers concluded that when it comes to motion tracking, the proposed approach is preferable to the existing method and may be used as an alternative in the development of modern surveillance monitoring systems.
