Application of Battery Less Ear Tag Sensor for Goat Breeding Management

In Okinawa Prefecture, the custom of eating goat meat is rooted in traditional food culture. However, the self-sufficiency rate for goat meat in Okinawa Prefecture is only about 40%. Even outside the prefecture, most of the domestic consumption is imported meat, so there is a shortage of supply compared to demand, and it is necessary to expand the scale of production. There is a need to establish techniques for raising multiple goats for meat purposes. In this paper, we realize an ear tag type small size low power consumption battery-less senor system (size=30 × 50 × 10 mm) by suppling electrical power from a solar cell on the sensor system. Using the sensor, we succeeded in measuring the real time body surface temperature of goats and found that the surface temperature changes during the estrous period.
