Sub-synchronous Oscillation Suppression Strategy Combining Parameter Tuning and Virtual Resistance

In an effort to improve the efficiency of power transmission and reduce line loss, series compensation technology is widely used in power system. However, series compensation technology will bring the danger of sub-synchronous oscillation (SSO). This paper focuses on the SSO and negative resistance effect, and proposes a SSO suppression strategy combining parameter tuning and virtual resistance. Firstly, the mechanism of SSO is unveiled, and the equivalent impedance model is erected. Then, a suppression strategy of adjusting the proportional coefficient of the current loop first and then adding virtual resistance compensation is proposed. Finally, the simulation model is erected on the MATLAB platform to prove the impression of the selected strategy.
