Design of an Ultra-Wide-Angle Metamaterial Absorber Based on Antenna Reciprocity

In this paper, we propose an ultra-wide-angle metamaterial absorber grounded in the principle of monopole antenna and antenna reciprocity. According to the antenna reciprocity principle, a monopole-antenna-type absorber element is designed for large-angle absorption based on the radiation characteristics of a monopole antenna. To assess the efficiency of the proposed meta-device, comprehensive full-wave simulations are conducted using HFSS. Simulated results indicate the designed absorber is capable of achieving a maximum absorption of 90% for TM waves within ±80° incident angles and keeping the absorption of TE waves higher than 80% from −80° to +80°. Our approach offers a promising pathway for achieving an ultra-wide-angle absorber within the wireless communication community.
