A Rectangular Slotted Symmetrical Antenna for WLAN Applications

In this paper, a rectangular slotted planar antenna is proposed for WLAN applications. The structure consists of eight rectangular slots and the structure is symmetrical about y-axis along with reflectors. An insert feed technique is used for impedance matching. The antenna resonates at 5.2GHz with an impedance bandwidth of 200 MHz's. The reflectors are surrounded from three sides to direct the beam in the broadside direction. The measured directivity of the proposed antenna is 7.37 dB. A comparison with existing antennas at the same frequency is also tabulated.
