Securing lOT Devices and Networks with Role of Cryptography

“Things” are physical items that are network-connected and can transmit, receive, and gather data. The Internet of Things (loT) refers to this concept. This goes beyond the “internet of virtual things” that we currently use to refer to web sites, videos, and other online information. Devices in the Internet of Things paradigm are outfitted with sensors that collect environmental data. After processing, the data is transferred via the Internet to be kept on servers that resemble cloud infrastructure. Once stored, the data is analyzed to derive actionable insights, potentially leading to automation or improvements in human life. However, with the rapid proliferation of loT devices, there are rising concerns over data security. While many focus on software security, hardware-level security is equally crucial. This article proposes embedding a crypto module in loT devices to bolster security right from data collection, ensuring that data is securely transmitted and stored. The proposed model has been observed to compute results with accuracy up to 98.6%. Our model integrates a crypto engine tailored for loT, ensuring robust data encryption and seamless integration across loT architectures. By bridging the physical and digital realms, it guarantees data security, authenticity, and integrity, addressing the pressing challenges of the burgeoning loT ecosystem.
