Fast Modeling Algorithm for Power Systems Based on RSCAD

With the continuous expansion of modern power system, the requirements for safety and stability are becoming increasingly strict, and the requirements for simulation accuracy are also increasing. Quasi-steady state models are usually used in electromechanical transient simulation, which have enough simulation efficiency and can meet the requirements of daily planning and research. Therefore, most power grid data is currently stored in electromechanical data such as PSASP. However, electromechanical transient simulation cannot accurately describe the dynamic characteristics of the AC/DC system during asymmetric faults in the AC system. Electromagnetic transient simulation such as RSCAD can accurately simulate the switching process of power electronic components, which is more suitable for simulation analysis of modern power system. However, there is often a lack of RSCAD electromagnetic transient simulation models in practical calculations, which require manual re modeling in RSCAD based on PSASP electromechanical transient data, and the problems such as high workload, low efficiency, and error susceptibility are caused. In response to the above issues, an automatic conversion program which can automatically recognize the data exported from PSASP and generate corresponding RSCAD models is proposed in this paper. Through simulation verification of WSCC9 power system, the effectiveness of the conversion program is demonstrated, which can significantly improve modeling efficiency and is great practical significance in engineering.
