Nanogold modified Titanium Dioxide-based Sensor for Gas Sensing in Transformer Oil

Due to the sharp increase in demand for power, it is now of the utmost importance to provide stable electrical energy transmission and distribution. The transformer is the central piece of machinery in the entire power system. An important foundation for preserving the safety and stability of the power system is provided by timely monitoring and analysis of gas that has dissolved in transformer oil, which enables the early detection of defects inside transformers as well as the prediction of their occurrence and development trend. In this study, a wet impregnation technique was used to create titanium dioxide that has been modified with nanogold (Au-TiO
2
). XRD and XPS characterization revealed that no substantial metallic gold crystals were produced on the appearance of Au-TiO
2
. The dimensions of the majority of gold species was kept to below 1 nm. The findings of the experiments demonstrate that the Au-TiO
2
material that has been produced adds to the gas-sensitive characteristics of H
2
/CO/C
2
H
2
gases. Important technical ramifications of this work include the quick identification and repair of gas faults in transformers.
