Early Stage Prediction of the Mode of Childbirth Using Supervised Machine Learning Techniques

The delivery method of the infant could be a key factor in guaranteeing the safety of both mother and child. Supervised machine learning techniques are able to predict the delivery method early on by looking at the medical history of pregnant women. Early delivery technique prediction would assist the pregnant woman in being emotionally and financially ready in order to prevent issues related to cesarean birth in the future. Prediction of an earlier baby delivery is made using various feature sets. For improved prediction of the baby delivery mode, a new feature called placenta previa was included in this study's data set. Among all prediction algorithms selected for the proposed study, the random forest algorithm performs the best with an accuracy score of 95.4% and a recall score of 92.4%.
