A Study on Seafarers’ Situation Awareness in Ship Resource Management: Physiological Data Approach Based on GWO-SVM

The shipping industry plays a crucial role in the global economy. Seafarers, as the backbone of the shipping industry, have a significant impact on maritime safety through their level of situation awareness (SA). In order to verify whether physiological data accurately reflects the level of situation awareness among seafarers, this study conducted an experiment. Physiological information was measured during the actual operations of 60 seafarers in a simulator. The relationship between physiological data and seafarers’ SA levels was analyzed through feature extraction, big data analysis, and the GWO-SVM algorithm. The results indicate that the measurement of physiological indicators can accurately assess the level of SA. The highest accuracy in assessing SA was achieved when using a combination of comprehensive physiological indicator parameters. Pulse indicators and the respiratory ratio indicator were found to be more suitable theoretical bases for the physiological measurement method than the respiratory rate indicator.
