Intelligent Flyback DC-DC Converter for Inductive Charging System

An analysis of the Intelligent Quasi Resonant flyback Converter (IQRC) 18W direct current (DC)-direct current (DC) converter is provided. This converter is used as the Secondary Power Supply (SPS) for a wireless inductive charging system (WIC). The IQRC served as a wireless inductive charging system's backup power source and was powered by a 100V variable dc-link. The fact that it was powered by a variable-dc-link 100V presented a design challenge. This work presents a new and innovative control method using a backpropagation neural network. Analysis is done on the IQRC efficiency graphs for WIC power transfer, WIC uphold and constant load operation. At 70V and rated load, the efficacy reached its maximum of 88.3%. Ultimately, an analysis comparing intelligent quasi-resonant flyback converters to conventional flyback converters revealed that both have comparable or better performance, are 18% less expensive, and take up 9% less board space.
