Grid-Connected Hybrid Renewable Energy System Under Various Operating Conditions

Due to the rapid increase in electricity demand, and the need to tackle climate change; renewable energy systems have been utilized considerably in recent years. The world has recently witnessed a dramatic increase in using solar energy based on photovoltaic (PV) technology and wind energy in different applications due to their sustainability, efficient cost, and mature technology. In addition, one of the many advantages of wind and solar based on PV is the possibility of installing them near the load centers in distribution networks. One of the great challenges of renewable energy based on PV and wind is that they have an intermittent nature. Combing wind and PV in one site increases the reliability of such renewable systems due to the complementary nature of these sources. This paper investigates a grid-connected hybrid renewable system based on wind and PV without storage devices. The performance is evaluated in such hybrid renewable scheme with considering different operating conditions and simulation scenarios. MATLAB/SIMULINK has been used to design and test the hybrid renewable system to evaluate the system's performance.
