Reflection Coefficient for a General Electric Anisotropic Slab With a PEC Ground Plane

A simple and exact reflection coefficient (RC) for a general anisotropic slab with a PEC ground plane is derived. The method starts by decomposing the total problem into local problems defined at the air-anisotropic interface and at the PEC boundary. Then the local RC and transmission coefficient (TC) are solved by enforcing the boundary conditions correspondingly. Subsequently, the global RC for the grounded anisotropic slab (GAS) is obtained. The derived RC is applicable to both the uniaxial and biaxial anisotropic materials. Numerical results are demonstrated to validate the derived formulas by comparing with those obtained by HFSS.
