Wideband, High-gain, Planar Millimeter-wave Antenna Based on Long-slot Radiator

This paper presents a novel wideband, high-gain, planar antenna for millimeter-wave (mmW) applications. The antenna is constructed on two layers of PCB laminates, including a long-slotiradiator, a parabolic reflectorifeeding network, and an upper cavity. The long-slot radiator breaks the boundary conditions of t of conventional slots, yields a low Q-factor, and contributes to a broad bandwidth. The upper cavity improves the antenna gain and front-to-back ratio. The antenna achieves a wide bandwidth of more than 40%, an average gain of around 15 dBi, and stable radiation patterns with low cross-polarizations throughout the operatingrfrequency band. The antenna can be further expanded to generate multiple beams.
