Compact Multifunctional Wideband Antenna for Global Navigation Satellite System

This paper proposes a global satellite system (GNSS) antenna with compact size, multifunctional and wideband, which can be used for navigation guidance, the fourth-generation(4G) mobile and Wi-Fi communication. The GNSS unit and multiple communication antennas are integrated on a stepped substrate, which has the advantages of low profile and structural integration. The simulated gains of the GNSS element are better than 4 dBi from 1.164 to 1.3 GHz, and larger than 5 dBi from 1.525 to 1.615 GHz. The mobile communication elements can cover 840-960, 1700-2200,2400-2700, and 2400-2480, 5100-5200 MHz, respectively. The results indicate that the proposed antenna has characteristics such as wideband, low cost, and high integration, which can provide an indispensable component for multifunctional satellite navigation systems.
