Global application of IoT-based telemedicine technology: a bibliometric analysis

This essay examines the state of remote monitoring research in the context of global healthcare and offers worldwide sources for pertinent studies. From January 1, 2003, to May 1, 2023, Web of Science was searched for relevant literature, and CiteSpace and VOSviewer tools were utilized for visual analysis. 961 articles altogether were included. The analysis revealed that domestic research was generally on the rise. The disciplines of study are mainly focused on engineering and medicine, and the publishing countries were primarily concentrated in the United States, EU countries and Asia, that the publishing institutions were primarily universities, that the authors were organized into three main research teams, but that there was less collaboration overall. The monitoring of heart failure, epidemics, and other illnesses is the current focus of research hotspots. As related research in China continues to grow, researchers, institutions, and staff members should improve interactions and mutual learning to advance the depth of research. In addition, it is also necessary to pay attention to the problems that arise in the future application of remote monitoring technology.
