Textile-Based Reconfigurable Dual-Band Frequency Selective Surface for WMTS and CBRS

A frequency selective surface (FSS) utilizing passive elements and a cotton substrate is proposed. The reflection bands while the diodes are off span from 3.22 - 3.47 GHz and 3.56 - 3.85 GHz. When the diodes are on, two reflection bands, 1.5 - 1.8 GHz and 3.52 - 3.78 GHz, are observed. The FSS structures were created using two distinct textile printing methods, screen printing, and sewing, following the initial design and simulations. The screen-printing method presented here utilizes a vinyl stencil and silver-based ink, while sewing requires a sewing machine. Design, fabrication, and results are presented.
