Novel Metasurface Design with ϵ-shaped Unit Cell for High Reflectivity and Wide Phase Range

In recent years, metasurfaces have emerged as powerful tools for manipulating electromagnetic waves with unprecedented control and flexibility. In this study, a novel $\epsilon$-shaped metasurface design that exhibits high reflectivity and a wide phase range is proposed. The metasurface is composed of epsilon-shaped subwavelength structures arranged in a specific configuration to achieve the desired reflection properties. By carefully tuning the geometry and dimensions of the epsilon-shaped split ring resonator, it has been demonstrated that the metasurface can reflect incident waves with high efficiency. Moreover, the proposed $\epsilon$-shaped metasurface design enables a wide range of phase control capabilities. By incorporating a variable-sized split ring structure, one can actively manipulate the phase of the reflected waves across a large span. This feature opens up new opportunities for wavefront shaping, beam steering, and other advanced applications requiring precise phase control. To evaluate the performance of the metasurface, numerical simulations are carried out to analyze its reflectivity and phase response. The results show that the $\epsilon$-shaped metasurface achieves a high reflectivity exceeding 90% while maintaining a wide phase range of 340° at 15 GHz.
