A Novel Parallelogram Shaped Microstrip Fractal Antenna For Home Automation using Smart Grid

The article proposes a novel parallelogram shaped fractal patch for miniaturization and its possibilities to be explored for microstrip patch antenna and its application in home automation. Without changing the external dimensions of the patch the fractal patch is fully used for miniaturization of the antenna. The perimeter of the parallelogram shaped fractal patch increases, keeping its surface area constant without capitalizing any extra space. The proposed parallelogram shaped fractal patch antenna gives 62.20 % miniaturization in terms of frequency or 67.50 % in terms of size reduction as compared to conventional microstrip patch antenna. The second antenna proposed is made from the first antenna by cutting the antenna into half from the symmetry axis and the frequency miniaturization is 59.04 % with 83.70 % reduction in size as compared to the conventional microstrip patch antenna. The different performance parameters of the antenna like S11/dB, Gain have been analyzed and reported in the article.
