Beam Scanning Circular Conformal Vivaldi Antenna Array

This communication presents a Vivaldi antenna with $S_{11}$ less than −10 dB from 4.3 GHz to 9.8 GHz with a realized gain of 8.3 dBi at 7 GHz. A $1\times 7$ circular conformal antenna array consisting of a Vivaldi antenna as a radiating element is designed and has a beam scanning capability of ±45° along the $\phi=90^{\circ}$ plane. The proposed array has a good gain, low sidelobe level, and beam steering capabilities and finds applications in weather radar and amateur radio. Ansys HFSS full-wave simulator is used for design and optimization.
