Analysis of Industrial Productivity in the Bogor Regency Region using K-Means Cluster

The industrial sector is crucial to a nation’s ability to prosper economically. Productivity, or the ability of an industry to create goods and services effectively and efficiently, is one of the main variables affecting the success of a business. Bogor Regency is one of the regions in Indonesia and is the largest district area. It is one of the supporting areas for Jakarta and has an important role in driving both regional economic growth. The aim of this research is to describe the Industrial productivity in Bogor and understand the inherent patterns or groupings in industrial productivity data we use the K-means cluster analysis method based on secondary data from BPS from two variables consisting of GRDP and total investment in each area. Several interesting findings in this research are that domestic capital became the majority compared to foreign investors with a size of 65% (5,3 trillion rupiahs) in 2021 and increases to 88% (13,4 trillion rupiahs) in 2022. 17 subindustries are identified, and divided into 3 industrial productivity clusters, consisting of low, medium, and high productivity clusters. The biggest investment comes from the real estate sector with 4,2 trillion rupiah in 2022. But instead of that, the manufacturing sector emerges as the most productive industry in GRDP contributing 142 trillion rupiah in 2022. This indicates the importance of the manufacturing sector in driving economic growth and job creation and this finding can provide valuable insights for policymakers, investors, and other stakeholders, enabling them to make informed decisions, promote economic growth, and optimize investment opportunities.
