A Cubic Non-Isolated High Step-Up DC-DC Converter Suitable for Distributed Applications

This study presents a novel cubic step-up DC-DC converter that offers a substantial voltage gain. It is well-suited for applications requiring high voltage amplification at low-duty cycles, such as a fuel cell step-up converter. Furthermore, the converter can achieve a compact form factor due to the absence of a transformer. In addition, there is a common ground between the input and the output. The equations describing the converter have been derived, and both ideal and non-ideal conditions have been employed to analyze the converter. The non-ideal voltage gain, as well as its associated losses, have been discussed. Simulations are carried out to validate the extracted equations, and the results are presented.
