Analyzing the Phenomenon of Information and Communication Technology on Online Religious Engagement Among Indonesian Muslim Adolescents

Online religion is a phenomenon that utilizes the virtual world as a brand-new setting for fulfilling an individual’s spiritual needs, along with the rapid development of information, communication, and technology (ICT). It is a worldwide occurrence, especially among Muslim adolescents in Indonesia, which has the largest Muslim population and the most religious societies. This study investigated the variables affecting Indonesian Muslim adolescents’ online religious behavior. Using a quantitative approach and multiple regression analysis technique, this study found that online religious engagement among Indonesian Muslim adolescents is influenced by the level of religiosity and morality. The higher the level of religiosity and morality among Indonesian adolescents are, the higher they engage in online religious activities.
