Research on Reactive Power Optimization Control in Distribution Grid Considering Distributed Generators

A strategy for reactive power optimization control associated with active participation of distributed generators (DG) was proposed in this paper, to address the safety and economic operation problems of distribution networks including DGs. Through power flow calculation, considering the real-time power demand conditions, an improved genetic algorithm based on the elite preservation strategy (EPS) was taken to dynamically determine the output of DGs participating in scheduling, with the compromise optimization of the system network loss and voltage offset as the objective function. Simulation research was carried out aiming at the IEEE-33 bus system on the MATLAB platform, and the results showed that this scheme effectively improved the system network loss and voltage offset, and thus eliminated the out-of-limit risk of node voltage. Compared with the traditional reactive power compensation method by capacitor bank, not only the switching capacity of capacitors was reduced; but continuous smooth adjustment was also achieved, and hence a better overall regulation effect could be exhibited, verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
