Modelling and Analysis of Tri-State Boost Converter for Solar PV Applications

Expanding energy request and natural issues are the real worries to propel research in the field of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and its applications. Convectional sources of energy are quickly exhausting and the expense of energy is increasing and accordingly photovoltaic (PV) system is a standout amongst the most encouraging choices because of contamination free, disseminated all through the earth. PV cells are interconnected in a suitable way to obtain PV module and PV array which is used to produce electric power contingent on the climatic environments. Power electronic converters (PEC) goes about as an interface between input PV system and output to enhance the power flow. Conventionally, boost converter is inured to increase the voltage obtained from the solar PV system. Instability is a major issue in the boost converter due to the existence of right-hand plane (RHP) zero. In this paper, A novel topology tri-state boost converter is utilized to analyze the stability of the system and frequency response analysis using bode plot is carried out accordingly to judge the presentation of the system. Tri-state boost converter is implemented in closed loop using proportional integral (PI) controller as well as fuzzy logic controller. The investigation is done in MATLAB/SIMULINK and results including PV voltage, response of the converter and inductor current are related between predictable boost and tri-state converts.
