Time-Optimal Orbital Maneuvering for Bearings-Only Pursuit-Evasion Game

This paper studies the problem of impulse sequence design for time-optimal pursuit for a maneuverable evader only using line-of-sight (LOS) angles measurement. To obtain the evader's orbital information., an efficient recurrent iteration least square (RILS) algorithm is proposed to estimate the evader's position and velocity utilizing the LOS angles of the evader during a period of time. Based on the estimation information., two maneuver strategies for the pursuer are proposed respectively, one of which is the near time-optimal approaching strategy to approach the evader as soon as possible and the other is the observation-optimal strategy to enhance the estimation accuracy of the RILS algorithm. The two maneuver strategies are combined with different weights to enhance the pursuit performance. The numerical simulation is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed estimation algorithm and pursuit strategy.
