A New Statistical Compression-Based Method for Wireless Sensor Networks Energy Efficient Data Transmission

Due to network appealing qualities, real-time utilization of wireless sensor networks (WSN) has gained popularity. Energy becomes a key component of WSN in the event of deployment due to battery capacity restriction in each sensor node. A common technique to reduce energy consumption in WSN is data compression. This is because compressed data take up less storage space, which, in turn, lower the total power consumption of the sensor nodes and result in energy savings. This letter uses a statistical compression strategy to solve an issue of energy usage. The proposed method reduces memory usage by 91.23% and saves energy by 79.65%.
