Design and Simulation of a low cost star-type antenna operating at 28.75 GHz

This article shows the results of the design and simulation of a bright star type antenna in the range of 22GHz to 32GHz that is low cost and easy to build. The design is based on an initial array of four-square elements operating at the frequency of 25 GHz. By applying geometric concepts, and optimization to the transmission lines, bright star elements are obtained that operate at the frequency of 28.75GHz with an approximate gain of 5.57dBi, loss of return and VSWR less than -17dB and 1.5, respectively. The High Frequency Structure Simulator tool shows a better distribution of current density for the final design.
