Energy Transfer Through Light Beam for EV Charging

Electric vehicles (EVs) are currently gaining substantial popularity in India, necessitating the development of dedicated charging systems. While manufacturers presently offer distinct home charging solutions, the fast-paced lifestyle of people is prompting a shift towards wireless charging across various daily-use appliances. This transition is also catalyzing an increased interest in wireless power transmission methods for charging EVs. Presently, a few wireless charging systems for EVs rely on conventional induction techniques for wirelessly transferring energy. Nevertheless, these systems demand extensive infrastructure and incur significant energy losses during the transfer process. Such limitations may render these solutions less practical in certain scenarios. In response to these challenges, this paper presents an innovative concept for EV charging and energy transmission. The proposed approach focuses on harnessing a spectrum of waves, with a particular emphasis on visible and invisible light sources. This method aims to overcome the shortcomings of traditional wireless charging systems, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of EV charging infrastructure.
