Multiport EV Charger with Improved Grid Power Quality

This paper presents a 20kW multiport EV charger. The proposed 20kW multiport EV charger having four ports operating at voltage of 650V, 400V, 72V and 48V. To develop multiport DC charger, cascaded connection of Vienna Rectifier (VR) and Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter is implemented. The double stage approach ensures ripple free charging of the battery which is suitable for the high power low voltage battery chargers, i.e., 2Ws and 3W s chargers. The desired characteristics of proposed Electrical Vehicle (EV) charger such as high efficiency, low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), constant voltage for charging batteries during variable loading conditions, Unity Power Factor (UPF) for grid current are achieved. The desired performance of proposed charger design are verified using MATLAB simulation.
