Modified Switched Boost Continuous Input Current Based Impedance Source DC-DC Converters

This paper presents two novel improved gain switched boost DC-DC converters that aim to address the limitations observed in conventional switched boost converters. The conventional converters often suffer from low voltage gain, limited output voltage range, and high switch stress. To overcome these challenges, two types of modified switched boost DC-DC converters are proposed, which offer improved performance by incorporating isolated and non-isolated outputs from the input supply system. The high gain DC-DC converters are needed to step-up the low voltage produced from distributed generation sources. Moreover, the traditional switched boost converters found in the literature are based on Z-source Inverter topologies. Therefore, this article proposes two new modified switched boost converters based on DC-DC converter topology. The voltage gain is significantly improved at the entire duty ratio. The operation of the converter in CCM is discussed and simulation results demonstrate its feasibility and effectiveness in achieving high voltage gain. The steady-state operation, analysis and simulation verifications are discussed. The proposed converter can find applications in various fields, such as Renewable Energy Systems, Electrical Vehicles, Defence Systems.
