Zeta-Cuk Based Dual Output Bridgeless Rectifier for Switched Reluctance Motor Drive

This paper demonstrates a front-end converter for an input power factor correction (PFC) and regulates the performance of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive in low-power household and commercial appliances. By regulating the DC link voltage of the Zeta-Cuk-based bridgeless converter, a wide speed control of the the SRM drive is achieved. Fewer sensors are required in the discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), which makes the zeta-Cuk-based bridgeless PFC converter compact and less expensive. The permissible variations in designed PFC converter are 100 V to 300 V for the DC link and 160 V to 240 V in the grid voltage. Using the bridgeless PFC converter, the supply current total harmonic distortion (THD) is preserved in compliance with an IEC 61000-3-2 standard. The steady state operation at rated condition, starting performance, and dynamic condition performance of designed low-cost SRM drive with bridgeless PFC converter is justified by simulation results.
