Ice and water recognition based on FMCW millimeter wave radar

Ice and water recognition is of great significance in studying whether water is frozen and understanding the distribution of ice or water. This article designed a method of ice and water recognition based on FMCW millimeter wave radar, experimental steps include radar-based data collection; data processing; feature extraction; data set division; network model learning, and training based on VGG16. The echo data of water and ice is collected through the IWR1843 millimeter wave-radar with the DCA1000 data collection card, and then MATLAB is used for data processing to convert the .bin file to the .mat file. Time domain analysis methods and frequency domain analysis methods are adopted to analyze the echo signal data, and the time domain diagram, frequency domain diagram, and time domain energy diagram are generated. After, the training recognition of the VGG16 network is implemented.
