Study on Photoelectric Auroral Absorption in Photochemical Cells with Surface Trapping Structure

Photoelectrochemical cells have garnered significant attention as a means to directly convert solar energy into electrical power. However, one of the persistent challenges in Photoelectrochemical technology is the limited efficiency of light absorption. In this study, we employ the finite-difference time-domain method to simulate the optical absorption characteristics of planar and surface trapping structures photoelectrochemical cell photoelectrodes. Our findings reveal that the average optical absorption efficiency of photoelectrodes with surface trapping structures is increased by 30.61%. Furthermore, we delve into the mechanisms underlying the enhanced light absorption associated with surface trapping structures. Our investigation demonstrates that the superior light-capturing capability of these surface trapping structures is the key factor responsible for improving the overall light absorption of the photoelectrodes. This research provides valuable insights for enhancing the light absorption efficiency of photoelectrodes in photoelectrochemical cells, thus advancing the development of Photoelectrochemical technology.
