Experimental Validation of P&O and P&O-PI MPPT Using RT-Lab Under Real Atmospheric Conditions

The main objective of this paper is to see the behavior of a stand-alone photovoltaic system in real time using the RT-Lab. In order to increase the power extracted from the solar panel, it is necessary to operate the photovoltaic (PV) system at the maximum power point (MPP). Also, this paper presents a comparative study, through experimental work, between the perturb and observe (P&O) and P&O based on PI algorithms, under different real atmospheric conditions. However, this study was divided into two parts; the first represents a brief introduction of the characteristics of the photovoltaic panel “GALIX” “JW-G2100” model and the last part mainly concerns the configuration and implementation of the proposed model using RT-Lab “OP-5700” in order to analyze the different results obtained from different control methods of maximum power point tracking (MPPT). Experimental results of the photovoltaic system, which was constructed at the Electrotechnical Laboratory of the National Polytechnic School of Constantine, will be presented and discussed.
