OpenStreetMap Integration into the System of People Safety and Protection in Emergencies

Over the last few decades, many countries have been challenged by the devastating consequences of natural disasters and wars which pose a significant threat to human health and safety. Timely information related to the distribution of vulnerable population and critical infrastructure is key for effective disaster relief. OpenStreetMap (OSM) has repeatedly been shown to be highly suitable for disaster mapping and management. The paper is devoted to OSM integration into the system of people safety and protection in emergencies. The main features of utilizing principles of people safety are described and discussed in particular emergency situation. Examples of OSM working are given and analyzed. SWOT-analysis that assesses the possibility of integrating OSM into existing emergency protection systems has been described. The work on the formation of the algorithm, according to which the calculations will be carried out was made. The application, that includes some useful buttons for people safety was explored.
