Model Predictive Control of Cascaded H-Bridge Inverters Driving Induction Motors

This work investigates the implementation of finite control set (FCS) model-predictive current control (MPCC) applied to the cascaded H-bridge (CHB) inverter-fed induction motor drive. Two multilevel focused techniques of FCS model-predictive control (FCS-MPC) are explored, both using a subset of the full space vector possibilities on the online optimization. Simulation results are shown for both techniques. Experimental results are obtained in a scaled 8-cells per phase CHB prototype for one of the MPCC implementations.
