Secured IoT Framework For Soil Moisture Detection

The emergence of Internet of Things technology has revolutionized various industries by offering innovative solutions to address long-standing challenges. The agricultural sector is one such area where IoT is having a significant impact. The objective of this research is to develop a secured IoT framework to acquire soil-related attributes in real-time using sensor technology. The developed framework measures soil moisture and temperature in real time. A customized IoT-enabled sensing device is designed and developed using the Raspberry Pi processor to accomplish the above objective. Using Wi-Fi technology, efficient monitoring and management of sensed attributes are achieved. The attributes are transmitted using the MQTT communication protocol and stored in an Influx database created on the server. Secure is ensured by the Ubuntu platform. The Eclipse Mosquitto message broker is employed by MQTT. An API is developed to visualize the soil-related attributes stored on the server. The enhanced connectivity and communication infrastructure make the framework more efficient and adaptable. With its versatility and robustness, the developed IoT framework offers significant potential for diverse agricultural applications, facilitating data-driven decision-making and optimizing agricultural processes.
