Adaptability Evaluation for LCC-HVDC Startup in Various Stages of Power Grid Black Start and Its Recommended Startup Strategy

In three stages of black start recovery process, the constraint conditions and a three elements evaluation criteria for black start scheme estimation are presented. Then the theoretical analysis of the system conditions for DC system startup is highlighted and the Belo Monte Bipole II DC project in Brazil and the modified IEEE 39 node example system with DC transmission line included are employed for AC system requirements calculation and corresponding simulation. Based on these simulation result, the adaptability evaluation result for LCCHVDC startup in various stages of black start is offered by presented three elements evaluation criteria. Finally, the complete startup strategy for conventional DC in black start process is proposed.
