Moving Towards Analytics-Centric Business Organization: Lessons Learned and Future Directions from a Case Study

Business organizations are undergoing digital transformation through big data analytics to remain competitive and thrive in a fast-changing business climate. With available data, businesses are looking into how these information assets can be transformed into useful insight to achieve their business goal(s). Through case study experience from an academia-industry project collaboration, we elaborate on the Data Analytics Lifecycle and reflect upon lessons learned on how a business organization can be prepared to evolve into analytics-centric framework. We find that corporate transformation is a group endeavour that entails altering the way the organization operates to reach new objectives, driving cost and operational efficiency. Building upon the Data Analytics Lifecycle, the paper discusses the data generation process and its analysis to satisfy business goals and propose right procedure of planning and executing an analytics-based project.
