Integral Backstepping Control of Sinusoidal Ripple Current Charge for Battery Chargers

The sinusoidal ripple current charge algorithm enables the battery charger to achieve high power density and high charging efficiency. However, the conventional PI control method is limited by high-frequency variable charging current. In this paper, an integral backstepping control method is proposed to regulate the sinusoidal ripple current, which is modeled and analyzed on a full-bridge DC/DC converter. The backstepping controller is a nonlinear control method that can provide fast output current tracking and good steady-state performance. Moreover, the introduction of the integral term can adaptively compensate the parameter uncertainties and external disturbances, which enhances the robustness and anti-interference ability of the system. The proposed controller achieves fast dynamic response and accurate tracking performance with variable frequency. The simulation verification is carried out, and the comparison results can provide reference for the optimization of the current control strategy of the battery chargers.
